Very Female- and Beginner-Friendly

To all the women interested in starting martial arts for fitness or
self-defense, I would like to say: Don't be intimidated!
I am 28, I smoke, I had not taken any martial arts class other than Tae
Kwon Do as a kid and I rarely worked out. A true beginner in
every sense of the word and I love EVERY class that I take at PMATC.
The atmosphere is very female and beginner friendly. The instructors
are patient, helpful and encouraging. With an eagerness to learn and the
humility to accept that you are going to make mistakes while learning, this gym
provides everything else you will need to get into shape, learn self-defense and
permanently remove the phrase "just a girl" from your vocabulary. As a
woman, I think it's very important to learn to defend yourself from attacks by
bigger and stronger opponents. Learn to protect yourself and encourage
other women to learn as well. You will feel so much better when you do.
Start Now. There is no time like the present to start building a
proficiency. I did a lot of online research before deciding to check
out PMATC. I then went to watch a class to make sure it wasn't going to be
too much for me. They have several classes Mondays through
Saturdays. Additionally, I was able to try a few classes for free with
their Introductory Offer. There are no contracts to sign, you will get a
great workout every time and have lots of fun doing it.
And finally: Don't be afraid. You won't get huge muscles because
you're not working with weights. No one will care if you get sweaty
and grunt because everyone else is doing it. No creepy guys
are going to watch you while you work out or touch you in
inappropriate manners. The instructors pay very close attention to every
student in the class and they want you to feel comfortable. The classes tend to
be smaller so you will get a lot of personal attention and one-on-one
instruction. It's a lot like having a personal trainer, even though the class is
taught in demonstration-style. And you won't lose your femininity.
You will, however, lose your helplessness and insecurities.
